Hot Rolled Bands
Unprocessed bands or steel sheet is processed to its final thickness on a hot-strip mill and is shipped directly off the hot-strip mill with no edge trimming and no cropping of the coil ends. Additional processing – such as pickling, edge trimming and tension leveling – are available as value-added processes.

Manufactured by: Butler Division, Columbus Division & Southwest-Sinton Division

Hot Rolled Processed Steel Sheet

The SDI Leveling Line in the cold mill utilizes a roller leveler to enhance shape. All processed black band material is stored inside prior to and after leveling. Black band coils processed through the level line have the additional benefit of being cropped to width and gauge, minimizing yield loss and variation.

Manufactured by: Butler Division

Floor Plate

Our floor plate is produced to the industry-standard ASTM A786 No. 4 pattern directly off the hot-strip mill and hasn’t been trimmed or cropped back to gauge. Additional processing, such as pickling or edge trimming, is available through a well-qualified external processor.

Manufactured by: Butler Division, Columbus Division & Southwest-Sinton Division

Coiled Plate

SDI produces Hot Rolled Coiled Plate at its state-of-the- art mill in Sinton, Texas. Coiled plate can be further processed into plate itself and SDI offers this in a thickness range of .187” – 1.00”

Manufactured by: Southwest-Sinton Division

Pickled Hot Rolled Steel Sheet

Our pickled hot rolled steel sheet is available for customers requiring an oxide- or scale-free hot rolled surface.

Manufactured by: Butler Division, Columbus Division, Southwest-Sinton Division & Heartland Division

Cold Rolled Steel Sheet

Our cold rolled steel sheet has been cold reduced to the specified thickness, and subsequently annealed and temper-rolled to achieve the desired characteristics. Alternately, customers may specify full-hard, half-hard, quarter-hard or skin rolled cold rolled steel with off-gauge heads and tails cropped at the temper mill.

Hot Rolled Galvanized Steel Sheet

Our hot-rolled substrate galvanized steel is coated with a thin layer of zinc to increase corrosion resistance. Galvanized sheet steel provides a cost-effective solution for heavy-gauge, unexposed applications. In addition to our standard spangle-free finish, we also offer galvannealed coatings for enhanced weldability. A variety of surface treatments are available to further inhibit oxidation or to improve formability.
