Our Steel Operations
Our steel operations primarily consist of our six electric arc furnace (EAF) steel mills and numerous value-added coating operations, with approximately 13 million tons of steel shipping capability. We offer one of the most diversified, value-added product portfolios in the domestic steel industry and provide innovative supply-chain solutions to exceed customer expectations and deliver greater value.
Additionally, we operate using a circular manufacturing model, producing lower-carbon-emission, quality steel using EAF technology with recycled ferrous scrap as the primary input. With our EAF steelmaking and circular manufacturing model, Steel Dynamics is already an industry leader. Our innovative teams’ implementation of our climate change initiatives will continue to raise the bar even further for the future of sustainable steelmaking.
Flat Roll Group
Our Flat Roll Group produces sheet steel products consisting of hot roll, cold roll, metallic coated, painted, and digital printed coils. We have approximately 8.4 million tons of flat roll steel annual shipping capacity, comprised of 6.4 million tons of steelmaking capacity at our Butler and Columbus Flat Roll Divisions. We have an additional 2 million tons of steel shipping capacity through The Techs and our Heartland Flat Roll Division. Once completed, our new Southwest-Sinton Flat Roll Division will increase our total annual steel capacity by over 25%.
Long Products Group
Our Long Products Group produces a wide array of differentiating products, including structural steel beams and shapes, rail, engineered special-bar-quality steel, cold finished steel, merchant bar products, and specialty steel sections. We have approximately 4.4 million tons of steelmaking capacity at our long products divisions.
Flat Roll Group
